I've been interested in open data and open source for many years, and I've written a few articles about the subject, one for the Ecologist - http://www.theecologist.org/trial_investigations/477823/could_open_source_technologies_help_us_solve_climate_change.html, and more recently one for Wired about open European rail data http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2011-06/15/european-rail-data. I run http://loco2.com and we are interested in helping people book trains in Europe more easily.
